With many newlyweds left devastated after being forced to postpone their big day as a result of Covid-19, we’ve been trying to help our where we can by offering free BLOOM London Dry 5cl miniature bottles as favours to those whose wedding has been affected as a result of the virus.
Our competition was hugely popular with thousands of entrants and now, we’re delighted to introduce some of our winners, or as we like to call them, our blooming newlyweds-to-be! Here are two of their stories…
Mike and Charlotte’s love story first began when they met on Valentine’s Day in 2015 and they got engaged in June 2018. After nearly 2 years of dreaming up their perfect wedding day, they were all set to get married on Sunday 3rd May at Merrydale Manor in Knutsford. Sadly, Covid-19 had other plans for them, and the couple were left with no choice but to postpone their big day until October.
“For the wedding to be postponed it was really sad and stressful as everything had to be rearranged. We wanted all our friends and family there to enjoy it with us as we had planned and for the day to go as imagined, but when Covid-19 resulted in our venue temporarily closing, it became clear that wasn’t going to happen.
“We have had to make changes to save the dates, invites and personalised items for the big day, so it has been really stressful. However, we were so happy to hear that we had won the BLOOM Gin competition. With everything that is going on at the moment, to win something amazing like this in 2020, it’s great!”
Despite everything, thanks to their amazing family and friends, the couple still managed to celebrate their would-be wedding day.
“As a surprise for us when we entered our close after coming back from a long dog walk, all of our neighbours were on their driveways clapping us home and close family were all socially distanced outside our house with balloons and presents. We also had a wedding themed Zoom quiz in the evening with our family. We then had one final surprise, one of our friends had created one big video with clips of all our Wedding guests wishing us well on our Wedding Day. It was so lovely!”

Rebecca and David have been together for two years and have four children, one little girl together and three children from previous relationships. They live in Runcorn where David works as a painter and decorator and Rebecca is currently studying mental health and behaviour.
The couple would have been getting married at the beautiful Forest Hills Hotel in Cheshire on 9th May, but as a result of Covid-19, were sadly forced to postpone their big day until September.
“Having to postpone our wedding was devastating, not just for us but all the family and children. We had a lot of family travelling to the wedding who had to arrange to stay over, so this all had to be moved. We even had our wedding rings personalised with the date of our wedding day, so when the date changed this was also really upsetting.”
While the whole situation has been heart-breaking for the couple, they still managed to enjoy their would-be wedding day as a family.
“On the day of the wedding we decided to have a lock down wedding instead where we had afternoon tea with the children. While it wasn’t what we had planned, we all still managed to have a great day. Family surprised us outside with gifts and flowers and we really enjoyed our day together.”
