The beginning of BLOOM Gin saw the start of a revolution in the gin-dustry, when our Master Distiller, Joanne Moore, decided to create a gin for non and new-gin drinkers. Discover more about our journey and how we’ve managed to turn one women’s desire into an iconic brand.
It all started in 2009 when Joanne was getting sick of people telling her they didn’t like gin, so she thought ‘nuts to that’ (you gotta love a Northerner) and decided to make a gin that even the most ardent juniper hater would like.
Working with only natural ingredients, Joanne created and launched a delicious London Dry Gin with soft nuances of chamomile, honeysuckle and pomelo, giving BLOOM it’s signature smoothness. Using significantly less juniper than usual, Joanne was able to achieve a unique lightness and softness that didn’t exist in the category, making it easier for new to gin drinkers.
Having bossed it with our London Dry Gin, we joined forces with Fentimans in 2014. Combining our expertise in blending and sourcing the finest botanicals, we created the perfect ready to drink Gin & Mixers.
In the same year, we hit another milestone when we launched our Strawberry Gin Liqueur. It was the first of the BLOOM Liqueur range and was an instant hit with our Bloomers, quickly becoming the staple serve at every summer soiree.
Fast forward to 2018 and the itch of innovation just wouldn’t go away. Inspired by the fairy-tale romance of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (and the delicious flavours of their wedding cake), we created a Lemon and Elderflower flavoured gin liqueur with gentle citrus notes and a hint of floral.
In the same year, we introduced our very first ‘posh pink’ gin – our Jasmine and Rose Gin. The iconic pink was designed to encourage drinkers to ‘pink differently’. Made with zero sugar and natural floral botanicals, we designed the sophisticated pink that you didn’t know you needed.
As another passed, the range grew once again (or shall we say bloomed? Is that too obvious?). While the partnership with Fentimans was a great success, we decided to invest in our own liquid development capabilities to serve the ever-growing army of BLOOM fans. To kickstart our own collection of ready-to-drinks, we introduced a BLOOM Gin & Tonic, and BLOOM Gin with Rose Lemonade.
The year 2020 was full of surprises, some joyful, and some not so much. Nonetheless, the innovation train chugged again as we introduced an entirely new range: the fruit and floral collection.
Our Passionfruit and Vanilla Blossom Gin and Raspberry and Rose Gin hit stores nationwide and dressed drinks cabinets around the world.
Fast forward to today and the message of our brand still rings true: that one woman’s desire is enough to create change. That’s why we choose to inspire women and celebrate the female collective every chance we get.
